Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Optical character recognition (OCR) support for Exchange Online and Teams
Microsoft has released an update for its Purview compliance portal, enabling Optical Character Recognition (OCR) support for Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams. The new feature will detect sensitive content within images and apply Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to prevent exfiltration of that data. It is compatible with a range of file types, including JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP and image-only PDFs. The update is currently in the General Availability Release phase and was launched on February CY2024. The feature is available on the web-based cloud platform for GCC High, GCC, and DoD.
