Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Optical character recognition (OCR) support for Exchange Online and Teams
Microsoft Purview compliance portal now features Optical Character Recognition (OCR) support that enables the detection of sensitive content within images. This functionality subsequently applies data loss prevention policies (DLP) to prevent exfiltration of sensitive data in Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams. This release supports key file types such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and PDF (image only PDF). The feature was generally released in February CY2024 and is available on the web cloud instance GCC High, GCC, DoD. To learn more, visit the Microsoft roadmap link provided.
