Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Optical character recognition (OCR) support for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business
Microsoft Purview compliance portal now supports Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business which enables you to detect and protect sensitive content in images and subsequently apply Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to prevent exfiltration of that sensitive data in those platforms. The file types supported by this update are JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and BMP. This update is in the Preview Release phase and will be available in June CY2023. The Preview will be available in April CY2023, and the platform supported is Web Cloud Instance Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant).
With this update, you can now easily safeguard sensitive data that may be part of an image and ensure compliance with your organizational data handling policies.
