Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Discover and co-author documents labeled with user-defined permissions

SharePoint and OneDrive are currently rolling out a new feature in public preview that enables the discovery and co-authoring of files labeled with user-defined permissions. This feature allows for these encrypted files to be searched, inspected for data loss prevention, and used with eDiscovery, as well as opened, edited, and co-authored seamlessly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps on all platforms. The feature is expected to be fully rolled out by late September after completing the public preview phase and standard release. There is no need for any special action to enable this feature, but it is recommended to educate users and update documentation as needed to reflect these changes. Review and define label policies and settings and access Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, and eDiscovery solutions in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to prepare.
