Microsoft OneNote for Windows 10 retires October 14, 2025 (switch your users)
Microsoft has recently announced that support for OneNote for Windows 10 will come to an end on October 14, 2025. Users are advised to switch to the Microsoft OneNote for Windows app, for a unified and modern experience. The OneNote team is focusing on enhancing this app, releasing new features like Loop components, voice dictation and transcription, ink improvements, a new meeting details experience, integration with the new Microsoft Outlook, and more to align with the evolving needs of users. Although OneNote for Windows 10 is supported until October 14, 2025, it is no longer receiving new feature updates, and it does not benefit from improvements to data syncing. Users will start to see notifications in OneNote for Windows 10 about the end of support from January 2025. To ensure a smooth transition, Microsoft has offered guidance, support, and a sample migration script to simplify the migration process for IT admins. Additional OneNote team support is also available in October 2024 to aid in the migration process for tenants who want to migrate early. New user downloads for OneNote for Windows 10 will be restricted from November 1, 2024. To prepare for the end of support, it is recommended that users switch to the Microsoft OneNote for Windows app as soon as possible.
Stay ahead of the changes and make the transition early to ensure a seamless experience for your organization.
