Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Configure sensitivity labels to be applicable to files or emails only

Microsoft is introducing a new capability that will allow admins to configure sensitivity labels that are applicable to files or emails only, providing more control over the scoping of these labels. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100711 and will roll out to public preview starting late March, completing by mid-April. General availability will begin in late April and is expected to be complete by the end of May. There is no need for any action to enable this feature, and admins can use the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to get started with Information Protection.
