Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management: Support for Microsoft Teams call data records
Microsoft Teams has introduced Support for Call Data Records (CDR) containing metadata for call and meeting records. This type of content was previously not managed by retention policies for Teams. However, CDRs are now included and will be retained and deleted by already-existing retention policies for Microsoft Teams.
This improvement to support retention policies is being rolled out now and will include all Teams call data records generated from September 21, 2022, onwards. It is vital to note that Teams call data records generated before this date are not yet supported, but the platform plans to incorporate them by mid-2023 and will notify customers through Message Center once these records are supported.
Teams CDRs will now be managed per the rules specified in your Teams user chat and Teams channel messages retention policies. This inclusion happens automatically, and no changes are required to your configuration. However, CDRs for meetings held in standard channels or shared channels and private channels will be managed by different policies. If you're in charge of data lifecycle management in your organization, you may want to communicate this change.
