Microsoft Purview – Data Lifecycle and Records Management – Scope the administration of retention and label policies

The article discusses an update to the Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Microsoft Purview Records Management solutions aimed at improving the implementation of security best practices. The update allows organizations to use Administrative Units in Azure Active Directory (AAD) to define access to the administration of retention and label policies in Microsoft Purview. This is expected to give Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management administrators granular control over who can manage retention policies and label policies for different parts of the organization. The feature will roll out to public preview in late April and is expected to be complete by the end of May. There is no preparation needed to receive the feature, but updating training or reference materials may be necessary. The new capability can be accessed through the Data Lifecycle management and Records Management features of the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
