Microsoft Syntex optical character recognition (OCR) will support PDF files with images

Microsoft Syntex optical character recognition (OCR) will support PDF files with images

Microsoft Syntex OCR is getting an upgrade! Soon, it will support hybrid PDFs with images, adding to its searchability and discoverability. The rollout will begin towards the end of October 2024 and is expected to be completed by early November of the same year. This enhancement is a part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 419808. The OCR feature was previously limited to image-only PDF files, but with this upgrade, newly uploaded hybrid PDFs will also be processed. This means that PDFs with both text and images will have better searchability and discoverability. The rollout will happen automatically, and there is no need for any admin action before the rollout. However, it is recommended to notify users of the change and update any relevant documentation. Check out the optical character recognition in Microsoft Syntex to learn more.
