Estimating cost of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive , Endpoint

Are you curious about the cost of using Optical Character Recognition (OCR)? Look no further than the OCR Cost Estimator! OCR scans images for sensitive content and incurs charges based on the amount of images scanned. With the introduction of the OCR Cost Estimator, you can estimate OCR expenses without any prerequisites. Previously, customers had to set up an Azure Subscription for billing before getting started, but now they can easily estimate the expense they would have incurred while utilizing OCR.

The OCR Cost Estimator permits users to experiment with different workload/user and site scope combinations to pinpoint the ideal OCR usage setting. This will allow you to see the potential cost that you might have incurred while using OCR, and everything is free. The dashboard provides a detailed breakdown of the cost and volume of the images scanned, and it even allows you to download a report of the data. You can login to compliance.microsoft.com to start the OCR Cost Estimator under Settings > Optical Character Recognition. Rollout will begin in December 2023 and is expected to be complete by January 2024.

The primary use case of OCR is to scan images for sensitive content and obtain data from them, and the OCR Cost Estimator provides an easy way to estimate the cost of doing so. If you're interested in utilizing OCR in your organization, login to compliance.microsoft.com to start experimenting with the OCR Cost Estimator to ascertain the potential cost.
