Microsoft Syntex OCR for SharePoint and OneDrive
If you're a SharePoint or OneDrive user, you'll be pleased to learn that Microsoft is rolling out its Syntex Optical Character Recognition feature in a public preview. With Syntex, you can extract text from images in your tenant and use it for scenarios such as end-user search and information protection policies in Microsoft Purview. To implement OCR, you must connect your Azure subscription with Microsoft Syntex, as OCR is charged on a pay-per-use basis. After billing has been set up, you can specify where you want Syntex OCR to be applied in either the Microsoft admin center in Syntex setup, Microsoft Purview, or both. Standard release is expected to be complete by late July. By configuring OCR to be applied to images in your tenant, you'll be able to extract key information with greater speed and ease.
