Audit – New default retention for Audit (Standard)
Microsoft is rolling out a change in the default retention period for Microsoft Purview Audit (Standard) from 90 days to 180 days, starting from early October 2021 and expected to be complete by mid-October 2023. The default retention period for Audit (Premium) will remain at 1 year. This update will provide organizations with deeper visibility into security data. No action is needed to enable this feature update and accessing the Audit logs can be done through the Microsoft Purview compliance portal. Microsoft Purview Audit is a service that allows customers to centrally visualize cloud log data generated across their enterprise, helping them respond to security events, forensic investigations, internal investigations, and compliance obligations.
