Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Maintain label when creating PDF files from VBA in Office apps (GA)

Microsoft Office is rolling out a new feature in early December that allows for PDF files created from Office using Export to PDF to maintain the source document's labels or encryption. This means that by default, all PDFs created using Office's fixed format export functions will automatically inherit the source document's label or encryption. It is important to note that some VBA add-ins for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint may need to be updated to avoid issues when post-processing an encrypted PDF.

To prepare, users should define sensitivity labels and settings in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal. This new feature is expected to be fully rolled out by early January.
