Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Use double-key encryption to protect your most sensitive files and emails in Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows

Microsoft 365 Apps users can now use Double Key Encryption (DKE) to protect their most sensitive files and emails using the built-in labeling client. DKE ensures that one key is stored in Microsoft Azure while the other key is held by the user, ensuring that the user is the only one who can access the protected content under all circumstances. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook users can publish or consume content protected with DKE by using sensitivity labels configured in Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal. This enhanced security feature is accessible through Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows and is available for preview in the Current Channel. The feature will be released in August CY2023, while the preview is expected to be available from April CY2023.
By using double-key encryption, Microsoft is raising the bar for information protection in the digital age, providing users with a more secure way to handle sensitive content.
