Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Maintain protection when creating PDF files from Office apps (GA)

Microsoft is introducing a new feature to maintain label and protection for PDF files created from Microsoft Office apps. This feature will allow labels and protection applied on Office documents to persist to the output file when converting to PDF in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on PCs using File|SaveAs, File|Export, and File|Share Office add-ins. This feature is expected to roll out from late August to the end of September. To enable users to label PDFs created in Office, admins can create sensitivity labels and define policies and settings in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

If you're an organization using Microsoft Office apps, this new feature helps you maintain protection for your PDF files effortlessly. This announcement provides a great opportunity to learn more about sensitivity labels and how they can be applied to PDFs created with Office apps. Overall, this update leads to enhanced security and protection for creating and sharing sensitive PDF files.
