Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Maintain label and protection when creating PDF files from VBA in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (U.S. Government clouds)
Microsoft Purview compliance portal has announced a new feature that will be useful for VBA developers who create PDFs from documents with sensitivity labels and encryption. The feature will allow the PDFs created using Office's fixed format export functions to inherit the source document's label or encryption by default, helping developers maintain label and protection for their PDFs. It is important to note that some VBA add-ins may require updates to avoid issues when post-processing an encrypted PDF. This feature will be available to users on the Desktop Cloud Instance GCC, GCC High, and DoD in January CY2023. If you're a VBA developer looking to create PDFs with sensitivity labels and encryption from Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents, this feature is a must-have.
