Microsoft PowerPoint Copilot: Support for protected and encrypted Word documents in “Create presentation from file”
The upcoming update to Microsoft PowerPoint Copilot will soon allow users to create presentations from protected or encrypted Word documents, with rollout expected to take place from early June 2024 to late June 2024. When creating presentations from protected Word files, the highest sensitivity label will be inherited, and no admin action will be required for the update. This feature will be available with a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. The update will ensure that there are no gaps in document protections, but if a source Word document has been protected with Double-key Encryption (DKE) or has restricted Extract privileges, PowerPoint Copilot will not create a new presentation based on the source file. Admins are not required to take any action before the rollout as it will happen automatically. Users will be notified to update any relevant documentation as needed. To learn more about the feature and Copilot in PowerPoint, Microsoft's support documents are available. The article originally appeared on M365 Admin.
