System generated emails from workflows and alerts will now show SharePoint Online as the sender display name

System generated emails from workflows and alerts will now show SharePoint Online as the sender display name

SharePoint Online system-generated emails from workflows and alerts will now display "SharePoint Online" as the sender's display name while the sending address remains [email protected]. This change, which is a continuation of an earlier update from January 2024, is aligned with best practices and is expected to roll out completely by late November 2024. If your organization has Outlook rules or other processes based solely on the display name, you need to update them accordingly. However, existing policies and rules using the email address will not be affected. If you use the "SendEmail" API or call SharePoint workflow or alert services via CSOM or REST APIs, those emails will also follow the new display convention. Therefore, it is necessary to inform users about the potential change in their workflow and alert processes from SharePoint.

The post System generated emails from workflows and alerts will now show SharePoint Online as the sender display name provides more details and the implications of the update on organizations using SharePoint Online's system-generated emails.
