Data Loss Prevention – Enriched Data Loss Prevention (DLP) alert email notifications for DLP admins

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) admins will now receive richer email alert notifications when a DLP policy match is triggered. Previously, such emails only contained information on user activity and type of sensitive information matched for the DLP alert. With this new feature, alert ID, policy details, device details, and more context will be included. This helps admins assess the priority of DLP alerts and take the appropriate steps before navigating to the Microsoft Purview DLP alerts page or Microsoft 365 Defender DLP alerts page. The feature is expected to roll out in mid-March 2024 and will be available as part of the DLP experience. To prepare for this feature, ensure that alert notifications are turned on in the DLP policy. This development is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 369645.

If you are a DLP admin, this improvement will provide a more comprehensive context when analyzing DLP alerts, allowing for more efficient management and response times. To access the DLP alert page, admins can navigate directly from the alert email notification to the Microsoft 365 Defender portal (for E5 customers) or Purview portal (for E3 customers).
