Microsoft Defender for Office 365: Updated submission results in ThreatSubmissionAPI

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 has introduced updated submission results to its ThreatSubmissionAPI, improving submission results for better clarity and actionability. These updates pertain to email, Teams messages, attachments, URLs, and user reports. The API is in beta stage, with a global release date yet to be disclosed. The rollout commenced in early August 2024. Users are advised to check their API setup for necessary amendments. Administrators and security operators have been observing enhanced results within submissions across email, Microsoft Teams messages, email attachments, URLs, and user-reported messages in security.microsoft.com since May 2024. The objective of these updates is to eliminate any vagueness associated with current submission outcomes, with the end-result being more actionable submissions, refined for clarity, conciseness, and uniformity for improved insights. These updated result details will be accessible through ThreatSubmissionAPI regardless of where they are surveyed. For more information, visit 'submissionResult resource type' documentation. For preparation purposes, we propose reviewing your API setup, specifically the result field. Organizations are recommended to continue submitting email, URLs, and files to Microsoft, streamlining their security operations. The standard release is scheduled to take place worldwide, commencing in early August 2024, and concluding by late August 2024.
