Updates to Security Admin permissions for Microsoft Copilot for Security

If you're a Security Admin using Microsoft Copilot for Security, you need to be aware of the changes in Security Admin permissions that are taking effect from July 13, 2021. These changes will give Security Admins expanded authority to control access to Microsoft 365 Customer Data within Microsoft Copilot for Security.
The purpose of this change is to enable users to directly query information from Microsoft 365 products in standalone and embedded experiences. However, if your organization does not wish to grant Copilot for Security access to your Microsoft 365 services, you can opt-out at any time by adjusting your organization's owner settings.
It's important to note that if access is disabled, users will not be able to use specific plugins like Microsoft Purview or connect to any future integrated or embedded Microsoft 365 services. Although no action is needed from Security Admins during this change, they will have the new ability to control access available to them.
So be prepared for this change in Security Admin permissions in Microsoft Copilot for Security, and opt-out if necessary to prevent access to your organization's Microsoft 365 Customer Data.
