SharePoint: Feed for Viva Connections web part and Video news link retires starting September 1, 2024

Starting from September 1, 2024, Microsoft will retire the Feed for Viva Connections web part and Video news link, and users are advised to seek alternative solutions. Site editors should get ready for these changes and notify users accordingly. On September 1, 2024, Microsoft will remove the Feed for Viva Connections web part from the toolbox and the Video news link from the +New menu in the organizational site. Additionally, site editors won't be able to embed new videos links or add new Feed for Viva Connections web parts to a site. On November 5, 2024, support for the feed for the Viva Connections web part and the Video news link will end, making alternatives like the News, Viva Engage, File and Media, and Highlighted content web parts the best solutions. Any Feed for Viva Connections web parts that haven't been replaced by alternatives or unused Video news links by November 5, 2024, will result in empty web parts or an error message for visitors to the site.

To prepare for these changes, site editors and SharePoint admins should update or replace affected SharePoint sites with recommended alternatives, notify users, and update relevant documentation.
