Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management: Upcoming retirement of SharePoint Online Record Center site features

Organizations using Microsoft 365 can benefit from the Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Microsoft Purview Records Management features, which offer the flexibility and scalability to proactively retain or delete content. However, Microsoft has a long-term retirement plan for older features used for records management in SharePoint Online that are not part of the Microsoft Purview Records Management or Purview Data Lifecycle Management. The first set of features to be retired includes the Record Center site template, the "send to" location programmable interface, and Content Organizer functionalities. This retirement will start from January 2025 and may impact organizations using these features. The retirement plan does not apply to SharePoint Server (On-Premises) features. Organizations are advised to migrate their scenarios to supported features rather than relying on the older, unsupported features that may no longer be visible or supported after the retirement date.
