Microsoft has announced the retirement of SharePoint Framework domain isolated web parts, with effect from April 2, 2025. Newly created tenants will not have access to this feature, while existing tenants will lose it on April 2, 2026. Affected web parts should be updated and redeployed as regular web parts to avoid an error message and stoppage of their functionality.
The decision to retire this feature was made after careful consideration and extensive feedback. Microsoft recommends that concerned organizations identify and verify whether they have installed domain isolated web parts, and update them to regular web parts well before the deadline.
The SharePoint admin center API access page is the primary resource for verifying installation and permissions. If your organization still uses domain isolated web parts, visit the domain isolated web part retirement page to discover the solutions, their domain isolated web parts, and where those web parts are used. This resource also contains all steps necessary to update the web parts to not use domain isolation.
It is important to note that there won't be an option to extend domain isolated web parts beyond April 2, 2026. More information on the retirement of SharePoint Framework domain isolated web parts can be found on the official retirement announcement blog post.
