14-Day Reminder of Private Unlisted Group Removal

This post serves as a 14-day reminder for the retirement of private unlisted groups (also known as "Secret Groups") on 11/11/2023, as per MC673984 and MC673984 announcements. The retirement of this feature was first announced on September 1, 2022, via the Message center (MC424414), and subsequent announcements drove awareness of private unlisted groups being made inaccessible on September 1, 2023 (MC673984).

After November 11, 2023, private unlisted groups in Yammer will be permanently removed and deprecated, and Viva Engage/Yammer network will no longer support them. Users will no longer be able to create or access existing private unlisted groups. If you have already received an approved exception from Microsoft support delaying your migration to Native Mode, your private unlisted groups will not be affected by this change.

To retain the content in private unlisted groups, it is recommended that the network is converted to native mode, which will convert private unlisted groups to private groups connected to M365 in Native Mode and retain their content. Data export is also an option. More information on Native Mode and data export is available in the Additional Information section.

It is essential to take necessary measures before November 11, 2023, to avoid losing any crucial data in private unlisted groups present in your Viva Engage/Yammer network.
