Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Data Lifecycle Management – Enable associated SharePoint sites to be excluded from retention policies after deletion of Modern Group

Microsoft Purview compliance portal offers a new feature that allows users to exclude SharePoint sites associated with a deleted modern Microsoft 365 (M365) group from retention policies. Previously, these orphaned sites remained active but could not be excluded due to modern group scope. The self-service feature will enable users to exclude these sites from both site-level holds and tenant-level holds without requiring escalation. The feature is set to be released in May CY2024 and will be available on the web cloud platform for instances DoD, GCC High, and GCC.

For users who require efficient data lifecycle management, this feature streamlines the process of dealing with orphaned sites while maintaining compliance with retention policies.
