Microsoft has introduced new resource-specific consent settings (RSC) for teams and chats in Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Teams to improve app security. These settings, which impact Chat RSC and Team RSC for apps in Microsoft Teams, can now be managed independently by Teams-level admins. The rollout will retire existing Group owner consent settings and APIs, and the existing Chat RSC API will also be retired. The new teams-specific settings will be managed using Microsoft Graph PowerShell commandlets, and all current settings for Group Owner UX and Chat RSC API will be migrated to the new Team RSC and Chat RSC PowerShell settings by March 14, 2024. However, admins can choose to manually preserve current settings by changing their Chat RSC or Team RSC settings with Microsoft Graph PowerShell commandlets before March 4, 2024.
Overall, these new consent settings aim to enhance app adoption and security measures for Microsoft Teams and Entra.
