“User consent to apps” setting in the Microsoft 365 portal to be retired

In early April 2024, the “User consent to Apps” setting in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center will be retired, and users are recommended to use the user consent settings in the Entra portal instead. Admins will no longer be able to edit the policy using the Microsoft 365 admin center, but no changes will be made to existing settings. Users can set their tenant-wide user consent policy through the Entra portal, and no preparation is required. The retirement will be rolled out in early April 2024 and is expected to be completed by early May 2024. To view or edit tenant-wide consent settings, users should use the experience in the Entra portal.
If you need to control what permissions users can consent to, you can set your tenant-wide user consent policy through the Entra portal. The “User consent to Apps” toggle in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center will be retired, and the user consent settings in the Entra portal will be where development resources will continue to be invested. No changes will be made to existing settings as part of this retirement, but admins will no longer be able to edit the policy using the Microsoft 365 admin center.
So, if you need to manage user consent to apps, make sure to use the user consent settings in the Entra portal as the “User consent to Apps” setting in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center will be retired soon. Be prepared and review the “Configure how users consent to applications” guidelines to learn more about user consent policies.
