Microsoft Teams: Explicit Recording Consent for Teams Meetings

The latest update in Microsoft Teams is the Explicit Recording Consent meeting policy, which will be rolled out starting from late March through to early June, depending on the service region. With this feature, participants will have to give their explicit consent before their audio, video, or screenshare is captured in the meeting recording. The policy is IT admin-controlled for the entire tenant or specific individuals, who will then have the explicit consent feature enabled for their meetings. The consent will be logged and accessible in the Attendance Report. To enable or disable this feature, admins can use PowerShell commands, and soon the Teams Admin Center will support policy settings too. However, bear in mind that this feature depends on the Attendance Report, which needs to be enabled, as audio, video, and screenshare/content-sharing will be disabled until consent is given.

Administrators may need to update their training materials to reflect the new policy.
