Microsoft Teams apps: Updated Live Share SDK to support chat/channel tabs and Collaborative Stageview

Microsoft Teams app developers, take note: The Live Share SDK has received an update to support chat/channel tabs and Collaborative Stageview. This updated feature will be generally available in mid-May 2024, for Teams for Desktop, Web, and Mac, but not iOS or Android. Apps with Live Share RSC permissions can experience the new features, but preparation includes disabling unwanted apps and updating documentation. Developers will soon be able to build Microsoft Teams apps using Teams Live Share, which features a software developer kit to create apps with real-time collaborative elements, such as co-watching, co-creating, and co-editing app content. The APIs for tabs in chat and channels were only available for apps used in meetings and calls initially, but they will soon be available for app updates supporting Live Share RSC permissions. Apps will use the Live Share Resource-specific consent (RSC) permission(s) to update their chat/channel tabs and collab stage views, making it possible to use the same Live Share APIs that were only available during meetings and calls. To use these APIs, apps must have either the LiveShareSession.ReadWrite.Chat RSC permission for chat contexts or the LiveShareSession.ReadWrite.Group RSC permission for channel contexts. No new app permissions are added, so all applications enabled in your tenant using the existing Live Share permission will be eligible for this feature.
It's worth noting that not all apps may want to use these new features, in which case they need to be disabled before the rollout.
