Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management: Public preview of browsed to generative AI websites indicator

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is introducing a new indicator, "browsed to generative AI sites," for the risky browser usage policy template. This new feature will provide visibility into the usage of generative AI domains in organizations. The rollout for this update is expected to begin in mid-December and be complete by early January.

User information will be pseudonymized by default, with strong privacy controls in place to protect end-user trust. The indicator is designed to help organizations ensure they are correctly accounting for whether and how these sites may be accessed in policies. Customers can access the Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements.

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management comes equipped with privacy by design, meaning that users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy. Users can also opt into the new indicator at insider risk settings.
