New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Open or restart while offline
The new Microsoft Outlook for Windows is set to introduce a new feature that allows users to open or restart the app while offline. This feature is part of the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 414516 and will be available from early October to late November 2024. Before this update, a connection to the internet was required to open or restart the app. This feature will be turned on by default, and no action is needed to prepare for the update. However, if an organization would like to disable the entire set of offline capabilities in the new Outlook, including this new feature, they can use the Exchange PowerShell Set-OwaMailboxPolicy cmdlet parameter OfflineEnabledWin and set it to False. Users may want to be notified about this change and any relevant documentation may need to be updated. For more information about offline support in the new Outlook, check out the Work Offline in Outlook article. This update message is associated with the message ID MC907098, and the post can be found on the M365 Admin blog.
