Microsoft Teams: Tenant-wide policy for permission to download meeting transcripts and user-level controls for who can view and edit meeting transcripts

Microsoft Teams is expanding its controls to enable IT administrators to restrict the permissions that can be granted to users for downloading meeting transcript files. As part of this update, default permissions have been altered to mean that transcript owners are the only users with both download and delete permission for their file. Meanwhile, meeting participants will only be able to view their transcript from within the Teams app or Stream. The policy is intended to support new meeting transcript files created across the whole organization, although IT administrators can exempt specified security groups from controls if required. Additionally, organizers can select specific users who are not permitted to download, edit, or view the transcription file.

This update is expected to support governance and compliance experts, who need to access transcript files for varied reasons.
