Microsoft Purview Information Protection: Tracking and Revocation in Compliance Portal

Microsoft Purview compliance portal now allows users to track and revoke access to their sensitivity labeled and encrypted local Office files, enhancing user security. This feature is available in the Production stage, while GCC users can expect it by mid-December 2023. End-users can track and revoke access via the "Track & Revoke Access" option located within the Sensitivity button. This feature leads users to the Microsoft Purview portal, where they can track user access attempts and revoke them when needed. Admins can view tracking logs for all users and revoke access to local Office files using PowerShell commandlets such as Get-AipServiceDocumentLog and Set-AIPServiceDocumentRevoked. Disabling this Microsoft Purview Information Protection Tracking and Revocation feature requires the use of the Disable-AipServiceDocumentTrackingFeature commandlet.

It is important to note that this feature is enabled by default, and disabling it will require input from the relevant authority.

Overall, this feature offers an additional security layer for users and enhances control over how their data is accessed and used.
