Microsoft new Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web: Changing how to disable/enable

Microsoft new Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web: Changing how to disable/enable

Microsoft is upgrading their process of enabling/disabling Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web. Starting from late January to mid-February 2025, the OWAEnabled parameter will only affect Outlook for the web, while the OneWinNativeOutlookEnabled policy will handle new Outlook for Windows. No admin action is necessary before the rollout, which will happen automatically by the specified date. The change aims to enable or disable access to user mailboxes using Outlook for the web and new Outlook for Windows separately. The OWAEnabled parameter only blocks Outlook for the web, while the OneWinNativeOutlookEnabled policy manages new Outlook for Windows. Existing settings won't be changed, but the system will remove the check for OWAEnabled. Users should check and confirm the OneWinNativeOutlookEnabled policy after the change takes effect. This upgrade will be implemented worldwide, and Microsoft advises reviewing the current configuration and updating relevant documentation to prepare for the change.
