The new Outlook for Windows will soon offer a new feature, where web links from emails will open in Microsoft Edge alongside the email, which will enhance productivity. This feature will be available from late July to late September 2024 and will apply to links from AAD and MSA accounts. Users will be notified about this change and can select preferences in Outlook settings. Organizations can also configure this behavior using the Cloud Policy service or Administrative Templates for Microsoft 365 Apps. The change will not affect the default browser settings in Windows. The feature is aimed at increasing productivity by enabling users to reference links and emails without switching back and forth between apps. Links that set to open via a web browser are affected, while links that open in a client app or within Outlook are not. The new feature will only enable links reading pane’s message body content. If you have already changed this feature for the classic Outlook for Windows or Teams, your configuration will apply to the new Outlook for Windows as well.
