Microsoft Outlook: Check-in to see who is working nearby in the office
Microsoft Outlook is rolling out a feature update that allows users to check in for their planned in-office days, letting others know they have arrived and facilitating in-person connections. After check-in, users can see their colleagues' confirmations and planned in-office times. However, the check-in option will not appear if a user has not set their work location or has set it to 'Remote' or 'Out of Office'. This update is scheduled to begin rolling out in early November 2024 for Targeted Release and early December 2024 for General Availability worldwide. This feature will be available by default, and there is no admin action required. Employees will be able to see who is confirmed to be working nearby. If you are an admin, you may want to notify your users about this change and update relevant documentation accordingly.
To stay connected with colleagues while working in the office, this feature update helps users to know who is working nearby in real-time. So, it's a great feature for companies who want to promote collaboration and in-person networking.
