SharePoint: Introducing archival and other enforcement actions with inactive site lifecycle management policy

Microsoft SharePoint has introduced an inactive site lifecycle management policy to address inactive content on your tenant. With this feature, administrators can configure policies to detect inactive sites and send notifications to all site owners. If there is no action from notification recipients, these sites can be archived or put in a read-only state. This feature is intended to help streamline content management and ensure that only relevant sites remain active and accessible to users.

This feature is set to be generally available starting September CY2024 and will be available on the Web Cloud Instance Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) platform. With this policy in place, administrators can better manage their SharePoint tenant and ensure that it stays organized, relevant, and user-friendly.
