Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management: General availability of SharePoint site selection enhancement

The Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is coming out with a new enhancement that allows for SharePoint site selection. This update will enable Insider Risk Management admins to add SharePoint sites as priority content or exclude certain SharePoint sites in Insider Risk Management policies using the search tool or exact URLs. The rollout for this feature is expected to begin at the end of November and complete by mid-December.

This tool is built with privacy by design, with users pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs in place to help ensure user-level privacy. It correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations.

To prepare for this update, organizations can add SharePoint sites to exclusion at Insider Risk settings and to priority content at Policies. With this enhancement, customers can create policies based on their own governance while meeting organizational requirements.
