Outlook on the web: MIP sensitivity label support S/MIME

If you rely on Outlook on the web for your workplace communication, you'll be pleased to know that S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) sign and encryption will soon be supported as a sensitivity label outcome. With this update, customer admins can use set-label advanced settings to define the label to have S/MIME sign or encryption or both, and emails with those labels applied will enforce S/MIME sign and encrypt accordingly. Additionally, content marking of the label will also be supported. This new feature is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 109582, and will be rolled out in mid-April and completed by late April for Targeted Release users, and in early May and completed by late May for Standard Release users.
If your organization has defined S/MIME email labels, you will soon see that S/MIME labels are also available in Outlook on the web to apply. However, if your organization does not have any S/MIME labels, this new feature will not impact you. To start using S/MIME labels, refer to the admin instructions on how to enable S/MIME labels via set-Label cmdlets advanced setting.
