Outlook: Labeling email from attachments’ label
Outlook is introducing a new feature where the highest sensitivity label from attachments in an email will be automatically applied to the email. This feature is expected to roll out in early March 2023 for Public Preview and early April 2023 for Standard Release. The sensitivity label can be configured using the set-labelpolicy cmdlet or via the Compliance portal. If no label policy has been set for email, then the feature will not show up. This is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100490.
If your organization has AIP UL Add-on label inheritance label policy setup already and starts using Outlook Native labeling, the email will get the attachment label automatically or recommend using the attachment's label. Admins can prepare for this feature by enabling a label policy for email to get the label from the attachment. The message ID for this announcement is MC518734.
