Changes coming to the Azure Update Delivery service tag
Microsoft is deprecating the Azure Update Delivery service tag, which is used for scanning Windows updates, and instead recommends using Azure Firewall application rules. From July 1, 2024, customers will need to switch to application firewall rules to address issues with content download failures while scanning for updates, particularly from third-party Content Delivery Networks outside of the Azure network. Detailed instructions for how to make the transition are available in a new article and customers are advised to check their Azure Firewall policy network rules and create Windows Update application firewall rules to replace the Azure Update Delivery service tag before the deadline. This change will affect organizations that use the Azure Update Delivery service tag, so it is important to prepare ahead of time.
