Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Assign a sublabel as the default when a parent label is selected in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
The built-in sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 Apps come with an added feature that allows admins to automatically apply a sublabel when a parent label is selected manually by the user. This feature is set to come into effect in February CY2023 and is currently in preview release mode since January CY2023. The preview phase includes platforms such as desktop and cloud instances including GCC and Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant). The roadmap ID for this feature is 115481.
To ensure better information protection, Microsoft Purview provides the option to assign sublabels as the default when a parent label is selected for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. This simplifies the application of labels and enhances the data protection mechanism already in place.
