Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Assign a sublabel as the default when a parent label is selected in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
The latest update on Microsoft Purview for Information Protection brings a new feature, allowing admins to assign a sublabel as the default when a parent label is selected in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook. This feature works for built-in sensitivity labels in M365 Apps and applies the sublabel automatically when a user selects the parent label manually. This update is set to release in the preview phase in February 2023, with the preview date set for January of the same year. The feature is set to be available on desktop and cloud platforms, including GCC and Worldwide instances for Standard Multi-Tenants.
