Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Standard) to eDiscovery (Premium) case upgrade tool

Microsoft is rolling out a new tool for eDiscovery administrators that will enable them to upgrade their current eDiscovery (Standard) cases to eDiscovery (Premium), merging all cases into a unified platform. With this tool, administrators will be able to choose specific cases from a list and move them to eDiscovery (Premium). All cases that are upgraded will retain their existing search and hold. No data will be lost or erased in the migration process, as the upgrade will change the case type and will not migrate the hold policies themselves. The upgrade process can only be triggered by an eDiscovery Administrator, and it is not reversible. This tool is expected to roll out to public preview in March and to general availability in late April. As an organization, it is recommended to review and update internal documentation, provide relevant training to users, and test the upgrade process using few test cases before proceeding with a mass upgrade.
