eDiscovery – Hold reports (preview)

If you are an eDiscovery (Premium) user, Microsoft has some good news for you. A tenant-wide Hold report will be unveiled as a Public Preview, and will give users with eDiscovery Administrator permissions access to an in-built report showing details of all hold policies associated with eDiscovery cases in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal. The report is expected to roll out for Public Preview from mid-December 2023, through mid-January 2024. This new feature is associated with the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 93268. As an eDiscovery (Premium) user, you will be able to access data on all locations that are part of any hold policies within the tenant, including details on whether the hold policy is turned on or off. This report will be found under the Reports tab in eDiscovery (Premium).

If your organization uses eDiscovery (Premium), it is essential to familiarize yourself with this new feature. You should assess the changes that will come with it and update your internal documentation if necessary. Besides, consider providing training to all your eDiscovery users to help them understand how to use this new feature to check the details of all hold policies in the tenant, locations within the policies, and the hold policy status.
