Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery (Premium): General availability of data purge capabilities for Microsoft Teams content

Microsoft Purview has announced the general availability of data purge capabilities for Microsoft Teams content in its eDiscovery (Premium) offering. This new feature, currently available in public preview, is designed to facilitate the purge of sensitive or misplaced data in Microsoft Teams. The update will enable users to extend the functionality of data purge and make it easier to manage data spillage investigations. Data spillage refers to the release of confidential data into an untrusted environment, and eDiscovery cases provide an effective way to manage such incidents. With this update, one can include Teams content in the scope of the data purge. However, data purge cannot delete review set items in eDiscovery (Premium). Purge signals will be available via the eDiscovery (Premium) Graph APIs.

The update is expected to roll out by the end of December, and users are advised to get started with eDiscovery (Premium) in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal. For more information, one can refer to the "Close or delete an eDiscovery (Premium) case" document.
