Microsoft Purview | Detect AIP labelled files (pfile) using the DLP condition “content contains sensitivity label”

Microsoft Purview | Detect AIP labelled files (pfile) using the DLP condition “content contains sensitivity label”

Microsoft Purview is now enhancing its Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to support the detection of AIP labelled files in addition to email attachments that make use of the "content contains sensitivity label" condition. This security feature will help protect labelled files from loss and leakage, and will now encompass all file types, including those that have been labelled using the Microsoft Purview Information Protection sensitivity label and those labelled with the AIP client. Previously, this DLP policy only detected labels in Microsoft Office and PDF file types, but it will now be extended to pfile as well, including .ptxt/.pjpg files. The rollout for this update is scheduled to begin in early August 2023 and will be completed by late August 2023 for commercial tenants. The existing DLP policies for detecting labelled email attachments will continue to apply on emails containing .pfile attachments without requiring any changes in the policy.

Overall, this update will help organizations better protect their labelled files against data loss or leakage and ensure that their DLP policies continue to function effectively.
