Support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end October 14, 2025: Upgrade recommended
Microsoft has announced that support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. To ensure continued updates and support, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Microsoft 365 E3 or Office LTSC 2024. After October 14, 2025, there will be no further security fixes, updates, or technical support available for Office 2016 and Office 2019. Although these applications may continue to function, continuing to use unsupported software may result in potential security risks. To avoid these risks, it is recommended to upgrade any remaining devices running Office 2016 or Office 2019 to a supported version as soon as possible.
Microsoft 365 E3 provides the latest versions of desktop apps and includes core device management, security, and compliance features. Microsoft FastTrack and the Office End of Support Tech Community are available to assist with the migration process.
To stay secure and up-to-date, organizations should consider planning ahead and reading the upgrade guidance for an overview of the migration process. Microsoft FastTrack and the Office End of Support Tech Community provide additional resources to help with the transition. Upgrading to a supported version is necessary to ensure your organization remains secure and compliant.
