AI overview for SharePoint News posts in the SharePoint app for Teams
Users with eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses can access AI-generated audio summaries of SharePoint News posts in the SharePoint app for Teams starting mid-August 2026. No action is needed, and administrators can manage access via licensing controls. The feature complies with data residency and processing commitments. What and why: Users will be able access an AI generated audio summary of SharePoint News posts in the SharePoint app for Teams (Viva Connections). This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 562018 Rollout Schedule: General Availability (Worldwide): We began rolling out mid-August 2026 and expect to complete by early September 2026. Impact on your organization: Users with an eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot license will see a new option to listen to an AI-generated audio overview of supported SharePoint News posts in the SharePoint app for Teams. This provides an additional way to consume organizational communications and stay informed while maintaining access to the original news post content. Action required / Recommendations: No action is required to prepare for this feature. Organizations may choose to notify users about this new capability. The feature will be available to users with the appropriate Microsoft 365 Copilot licensing. Compliance considerations: This feature follows its parent service’s data residency and processing commitments.
